The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid an official visit to the city of Semey. During the visit, he took part in the opening ceremony of the monument “Uly agyn Abay Uldarymen”. The sculpture, which was created for the 175th anniversary of Abai, depicts the great figure and his two sons, Akylbai and Turagul. The author of the monument tried to show the special love and boundless pride of his sons for their father.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the townspeople on the anniversary, in particular, he said:
“Semipalatinsk region is one of the most sacred places in Kazakhstan. Here are the roots and blood of the great Abai, Shakarim and Mukhtar Auezov. The city of Semey should be given the status of a historical center. In this regard, it is planned to develop the socio-economic complex of the city and modernize its historical and cultural facilities in accordance with the new requirements. I instruct the Government to take appropriate measures in this regard ”
The President also stressed the need to link the education of young people with the moral life of Abai. “In general, education should become one of the main factors that shape the quality of the nation!” – stressed the head of state.
The monument erected in your city should inspire the younger generation. Abai and his wise sons, who continued his words and deeds, are people who have become an example for the country. The sculpture represents the continuity of generations, the nobility of the Kunanbai dynasty of kazhy.
The President also visited social housing, talked with mothers of many children, met with Abay scholars and awarded those of them who actively study and promote the heritage of the great Abai.
