15 years of service to memory: Pavlodar detachment “Maidan Zholy” summed up the results of its work

On December 7, 2024, a solemn event was held at the House of Friendship dedicated to the results of the 15-year work of the Pavlodar search and research team “Maidan Zholy”. The event brought together representatives of the public, volunteers, government and educational institutions, as well as guests from the Russian Federation.
The main purpose of the event was to sum up the results of many years of work aimed at perpetuating the memory of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland and instilling patriotism among young people. Since 2009, the Maidan Zholy detachment has been conducting expeditions in Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine, returning the names of missing soldiers and their remains to their homeland.
Over the years, search engines discovered and buried 303 Soviet soldiers with military honors, erected more than 25 monuments, and donated about 1,000 artifacts from the war to museums and educational institutions. Also, thanks to their work, dozens of families received lost awards and restored family archives.
At the event, for the first time in the history of the Pavlodar region, medals of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation “For merits in perpetuating the memory of fallen defenders of the Fatherland” were awarded. These awards recognize the contributions of volunteers who have dedicated their lives to the preservation of historical memory. The award was given to VKINEU teacher N.T. Magzumov.
