Your health is in your hands!

In connection with the recent frequent fires in the private sector, specialists of the Emergency Department of Pavlodar city appealed to the administration of the InEU College with a proposal to conduct an explanatory conversation in order to prevent fire safety.

With the onset of the heating season, the owners of residential private buildings that are not equipped with central heating have to use stoves to heat their home. Of course, every resident of these houses knows the elementary rules of fire safety during the operation of the furnace. But… Disappointing statistics suggest otherwise.

Since the beginning of 2015 alone, 12 people have been admitted to hospitals in our city with a diagnosis of carbon monoxide poisoning. Of these, three children and one pregnant woman. The fact of fire in all cases was not registered. All the victims admitted that they did not comply with the safety requirements when using heating furnaces – someone forgot to open the furnace shutter, someone untimely cleans the chimney of soot, and someone simply incorrectly built the furnace itself. In the past, 2014, two people died from such inattention in Pavlodar.

Recall the necessary requirements during operation

furnace heating:

– regular and timely inspection and repair of stoves and chimneys;

– in front of the furnace hole, it is necessary to nail a metal sheet with a size of 70 x 50 centimeters;

– chimneys in the attic should be made of brick, plastered and whitewashed.

When operating furnaces, it is forbidden to:

– Refit the furnaces. During severe frosts, it is better to tap the oven several times;

– leave the heated stoves unattended and allow them to be heated to young children;

– melt the furnaces with kerosene, gasoline and other combustible liquids;

– installation of metal furnaces that do not meet fire safety requirements and technical standards is not allowed.

In furnaces, a blue flame is always a sign of the presence of carbon monoxide. The name “carbon monoxide” was received after cases of people’s carbon monoxide. In toxicity, it is close to hydrocyanic acid. In case of carbon monoxide poisoning, the mechanism of oxygen transfer is disrupted, its deficiency occurs. Usually a person does not feel when he begins to inhale toxic gas, but after a while headache, weakening of vision, dizziness, nausea appear. With further exposure to carbon monoxide, a real sense of time is lost, orientation in space is disrupted, and if the victim does not leave the room with carbon monoxide, death is possible.
If you have similar signs, leave the premises immediately and go to the hospital!

Remember! Your life is in your hands! Take care of yourself!
