That Great War

In the reading room of HCInEU there is a book exhibition called “Uly sogys Zhyldars. That Great War. ”

The book exhibition presents works dedicated to the Great Patriotic War: literature about the military and labor exploits of people at the front and in the rear, the memories of eyewitnesses who tell about the great battles that turned the tide of the war, about the heroes of the partisan movement and about the life path and activities of wonderful Soviet commanders and military leaders.

A special place at the exhibition is occupied by publications telling about the heroism of the defenders of the Motherland from Kazakhstan. They defended Moscow, defended Leningrad, participated in the defeat of the enemy near Stalingrad, on the Kursk Bulge and in offensive battles on Berlin. Everywhere they showed high valor and heroism, showed unlimited devotion to their homeland. Readers will be interested in T. Akhtanov’s books “Қaһarly kүnder,” a collection of memoirs of Kazakhstanis – residents of besieged Leningrad “Blockade Memory of the Page,” L. Akhmetova “Panfilovtsy: Our Pride, Our Glory,” V. Boltina “Let’s Bow to the Great Years,” B. Momysh- uly “Moscow is after us” and others.

The theme of World War II remains one of the leading in fiction. The further the events of the Great Patriotic War go from us, the more valuable fiction becomes. The exhibition presents books by famous Russian, Soviet writers who wrote about the war, many of whom fought themselves and know about the war firsthand: “The Moment of Truth” by V. Bogomolov, “Sign of Trouble” by V. Bykov, “Collection of Stories and Stories about the War of 1941-1945,” M. Sholokhov “They Fought for the Motherland,” “The Fate of a Man,” K. Simonov “Different Days of War” and many others.

Publications about the Great Patriotic War are always relevant and interesting. There is a spiritual continuation of real events in them. They are guardians of generational memory. The exhibition is a tribute to the deep respect and gratitude to the participants in the war, who at the cost of their own lives defended the country and together with the whole people won the Victory
