33-year anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan

February 15 marks the 33-year anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, including soldiers – Kazakhstanis.

A memorable date has been set to remind of this event, as well as in memory of more than 14 thousand soldiers and officers who did not return from the Afghan war.

Unjustified, strange, unsuccessful. There are a variety of opinions about the 9-year war in Afghanistan. But history does not tolerate a subjunctive mood. Paying tribute to the memory of the dead and not forgetting about the living is the main thing to do now.

Thus, students of the Higher College of InEU together with teachers of the NVTP Magzumov N.T. and Dzhanakhmetov M.I. visited the museum of Afghan soldiers in secondary school No. 5 in Pavlodar.

The head of the museum began the tour with a story about Afghanistan, about the reason for the entry of Soviet troops into this state. Further, Olga Yurievna spoke about our fellow countrymen, young children who were called up and served in Afghanistan. I introduced personal belongings, letters from the guys, which a little later the relatives handed over to the museum.

The war lasted nine years, one month and nineteen days. According to updated data, in total in the war the Soviet Army lost 14 thousand 427 people. More than 53 thousand people were injured and shell-shocked. The courage and heroism of the soldiers of the 40 army is evidenced by the following fact: over the years of service as part of a limited contingent, more than 200 thousand soldiers were awarded orders and medals, 72 servicemen were awarded the high title Hero of the Soviet Union. Kazakhstanis participated in the Afghan military conflict as part of the Soviet military contingent. The number of military personnel from Kazakhstan sent to fulfill international duty in Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989 amounted to 21,239 people.

Currently, about 16 thousand internationalist soldiers live in Kazakhstan. A total of 4,377 Kazakhstani internationalist warriors were awarded.

Among the dead – 36 residents of the city of Pavlodar and Pavlodar region.

The event left a deep mark in the hearts of the freshman guys.

After a tour of the museum, students with teachers walked to the Obelisk soldiers – Afghans and laid flowers.
