On October 31, 2024, at the Higher College of the Innovative Eurasian University, teacher of legal disciplines Mausymbekova A.Zh. An open extracurricular event, a criminal training session, was held with group P-322.
The guest of honor of this event was the judge of the specialized interdistrict court for minors of the Pavlodar region, Zhangazina Galia Shametovna.
The purpose of the event is to consolidate the acquired theoretical knowledge on the consideration of a criminal case in the court of first instance in a simulated form of the trial.
The students were given the task: based on an accurate knowledge of criminal law norms regulating the procedure for considering criminal cases in the court of the first instance, to show the speeches in court of all participants in the criminal process.
The trial is preceded by a serious
independent preparatory work of the teacher and students: this is the study of criminal procedural norms regulating judicial proceedings, the development of the roles of participants in criminal proceedings with the writing of their speeches in the “court”, rehearsal playing of these roles.
All students are involved in the business game: each is assigned a certain role as a participant in the trial: the judge, who presides over the trial, decides the verdict; the prosecutor, the victim, who present evidence of the prosecution in court; defense – in the person of the lawyer and the defendant,
whose task is to express their attitude to the accusation, and in case of disagreement with it, to present evidence of innocence in court, and if guilty, to present evidence of the presence of circumstances mitigating the punishment. The roles of other participants in the criminal process were also played out: witnesses, translator,
expert, court secretary, etc.
Judge Zhangazina G.Sh. drew the attention of those present to the fact that this form of conduct requires students to have good knowledge, not only of the criminal process, but also of the criminal law, since the game demonstrates their ability to examine evidence of the presence or absence of mandatory signs of the incriminated act.
When playing the role of a participant in a court hearing, the knowledge of theoretical material acquired by students not only in lectures, but also during independent study of sources and specialized literature is consolidated. When identifying and opposing violations of criminal and procedural law, students learn to analyze,
draw conclusions. All this allows them to acquire skills in applying theory in practice, since the business game simulates fragments of their future activities as a judge, prosecutor and lawyer.
This event allows you to consolidate knowledge on the topic “Proceedings of criminal cases in the court of 1st instance.”
All this stimulates and initiates students to in-depth study of this discipline, instilling in them a love for their future profession.
