Forum of CIS search teams: unity in preserving historical memory

Ertis TV channel has released a video about the international forum of search teams of the CIS countries, dedicated to the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 15th anniversary of the Pavlodar search and research unit “Maidan Zholy”

More than fifty volunteers from four countries – Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Russia – came to Pavlodar to discuss issues of integration of search and patriotic organizations of the post-Soviet countries and intensification of cooperation in the implementation of joint projects.

Alexander Dyachenko, Vice Consul of the Consulate General of Russia and head of the Russian House in Ust-Kamenogorsk, noted the importance of such events:
This project is especially relevant on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The search movement is a very important initiative, because these people are doing everything to return the names of those who died or went missing in the Great Patriotic War.

👨‍👩‍👦 Special attention was paid at the forum to youth search movements designed to continue their work on preserving historical memory and restoring lost ties with the past.
Armangul Tashekenova, Director @ineu_zhk Higher College of Innovative Eurasian University:
We have been working with the Maidan Zholy movement since 2016.  A memorandum was signed and a college-based School for a young search engine was established, in which more than 20 people were trained. Our students annually take part in search activities and go on expeditions.

“Maidan Zholy” volunteers bring back the names of the fallen from oblivion, helping descendants to learn about the fate of relatives who did not return from the front. Alexander Shitov, Commander of the Maidan Zholy search and Research unit:
For 15 years of work, we have conducted many expeditions in Russia, Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine. We raised and buried the ashes of 321 soldiers of the Red Army, and more than 20 monuments were erected. The remains of seven soldiers were taken to their homeland and handed over to their relatives.
Alexey Petrovich, chairman of the Russian Historical and Patriotic Club, head of the National Committee “Victory” of the Republic of Moldova, spoke about the opening of a memorial sign in honor of the natives of Kazakhstan who fell on Moldovan soil during the Great Patriotic War:
The memorial sign is installed on the Sherpensky bridgehead – a piece of land on which over 13 thousand soldiers and officers died in five months of fighting – the main place of our search operations.
The organizers and participants of the forum expressed the unanimous opinion that cooperation and coordination of efforts between the search engines of the CIS countries play a crucial role in preserving historical memory and transmitting this legacy to the next generations.
